This zine project, is a creative exploration born from a blend of personal archive from my visit to 'Shri Birdev Yatra' and the open-source photographic treasure trove, Fortepan.hu
Turmeric is a zine that brings together two archives: my personal documentation of the Pattan Kodoli Yatra and the public Fortepan.hu archive. It explores the space between the happening and the happened — where chaos and memory blur.
Turmeric is often known for its healing and positive qualities, but here, it takes on a different tone. In the chaos of the yatra, it felt overwhelming, disorienting — like the moment was slipping away even as it was unfolding. The zine mirrors this feeling, with its images and arrangement reflecting that tension.
While the Fortepan images come from a different time and place, they resonate with the same energy, creating a strange conversation across history. Turmeric doesn’t try to resolve this connection; instead, it invites the viewer to experience it subjectively.
*The zine’s meaning shifts depending on who holds it, making it a personal reflection on memory, chaos, and history. This above is just one of those interpretations, coming from me.
